QUOTE FROM PHOTOS

Send a photo — we'll start with an initial assessment

The type of material is all we need to start. Photos are fastest on WhatsApp — for unusual material and assessing contamination they're invaluable. You don't need to know the grade or its name.

SPECTROMETER ANALYSIS

A spectrometer at every branch

Assessment starts with experience — most grades we identify by eye and feel. When material is unusual or hard to identify, we confirm its composition with the handheld spectrometer every branch has. You get grading based on experience and facts.

B / QUALITY STANDARDS

Expertise isn't
“we'll take anything.”

Years of experience help us identify grades precisely and value the specific material. That does not mean we take everything as it comes — material must meet our quality standards, and better sorting at source may result in a higher grade and valuation.

Sorting at the supplier genuinely raises the value of a delivery: a clean aluminium profile is a different tier than a contaminated mix, and bright copper is a different rate than contaminated unsorted. Heavy contamination (steel in aluminium, rubber and plastics in metals, emulsion in turnings, moisture in paper) lowers the grade — which is why we advise on how to prepare material to get the most for it.

C / FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Before you pick a group.

What exactly does Odylion buy?

Nine commodity groups: aluminium, copper, electric motors, brass and bronze, zinc and lead, stainless steel and special metals, cables and wiring, ferrous scrap and paper. Within them we distinguish over 400 items, so a quote covers the specific grade, not the whole group.

What if I can't name the material I have?

You don't need to know the classification or the grade name. Photos and basic information about the material are enough to start — fastest on WhatsApp. Branch staff identify the grade, and unusual or hard-to-identify material is confirmed with the handheld spectrometer every branch has.

Do you accept every material?

No. Expertise does not mean “we'll take anything” — material must meet our quality standards. Heavily contaminated material may be priced lower or not accepted, so with an unusual delivery it is worth confirming intake before you set off.

How should I prepare material to get a higher grade?

Sort it at source as far as possible and limit contamination. A clean aluminium profile is assessed differently than a mix with admixtures, and bright copper differently than contaminated unsorted. Steel in aluminium, rubber and plastics in metals, emulsion in turnings and moisture in paper lower the grade in particular.

Does every branch buy every group?

Non-ferrous metals and ferrous scrap are accepted at all 9 branches. Paper is bought only by selected branches. On each group's page the “Where to sell” section lists the branches that take that material.

Where does the buying price come from?

From current metal quotations and the actual grade of the delivery — quotations are a reference point, not a ready-made price list. The grade, quantity and quality of the material decide the final rate, which is why we give the rate after we go over the material or photos, not from a fixed table.
